Chase quickly followed, and now Amex and Capital One have announced they will do the same for many of their popular cards.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/news\/global-entry-fee-increase\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TPG was first to report<\/a> that the price of applying for a five-year Global Entry membership would rise from $100 to $120 from Oct. 1. In announcing the fee hike, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which oversees Global Entry, cited rising costs to operate the program.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what to know about this change and the full list of cards that will see changes.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"offsetting-the-higher-global-entry-fee\" class=\"jsx-2362441780 anchor\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">Offsetting the higher Global Entry fee<\/h2>\n<p>As valuable an option as Global Entry is for travelers, the application fee isn&#8217;t a drop in the bucket. However, some travel credit cards <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/credit-cards\/global-entry\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will reimburse the fee<\/a> when it comes time to apply.<\/p>\n<p>But many of those cards&#8217; benefits include specified credits of up to $100 to cover the existing Global Entry expense. As of October, that credit will also cover up to $120 for applications to the latter program. The higher fee takes effect in October.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the changes to make Global Entry <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/news\/dulles-global-entry-egates\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more efficient and technologically advanced<\/a> \u2014 not to mention the fact that children of members or applicants <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/guide\/global-entry-for-kids\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">can apply for free<\/a> as of October \u2014 it&#8217;s a great time to consider joining.
