You can\u2019t deny the layers of history here. You\u2019ll stumble across millennia-old ruins as you stroll down random streets (this is why I love taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomadicmatt.com\/travel-blogs\/best-walking-tours-athens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">walking tours in the city<\/a> as I\u2019ll learn a ton about what I\u2019m actually looking at). <\/p>\n<p>Picking the right hotel for your trip is very important as it\u2019s a fairly sprawling city with a lot of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nomadicmatt.com\/travel-blogs\/where-to-stay-athens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">different neighborhoods to choose from<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>To help you choose, here\u2019s my list of the best hotels in Athens:<\/p>\n<h3>1. Athens Center Square Hotel<\/h3>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"675\" height=\"395\" alt=\"Guest room at Athens Center Square Hotel with a window open showing the Acropolis in the distance\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nomadicmatt.com\/2023\/athenscentersqhotel.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nomadicmatt.com\/2023\/athenscentersqhotel.jpg\" width=\"675\" height=\"395\" alt=\"Guest room at Athens Center Square Hotel with a window open showing the Acropolis in the distance\"\/><\/noscript><br \/>\nTrue to its name, this hotel is in the middle of absolutely everything in Plaka, the historic central neighborhood. Despite the crowds, I think the area is beautiful and it\u2019s one of my favorite parts of Athens. Most of the rooms here have a view of the Acropolis (so be sure to ask for one) and there\u2019s a rooftop terrace and bar with good views too. Rooms are simple but decently sized, with flat-screen TVs, desks, mini fridges, and air conditioning. There\u2019s an included expansive daily buffet breakfast featuring Greek and American cuisine that\u2019s super good too, as well as free coffee and tea in the lobby all day long.<br \/>\n<center><a class=\"bookhostel\" href=\"https:\/\/www.booking.com\/hotel\/gr\/athens-center-square.en.html?aid=1383362&amp;no_rooms=1&amp;group_adults=2\" rel=\"nofollow\">Book here!<\/a><\/center><br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3>2. Athensdot<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"675\" height=\"395\" alt=\"Simply decorated guest room with a red dot on the wall at Athensdot hotel in Athens, Greece\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nomadicmatt.com\/2023\/athensredhotel.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nomadicmatt.com\/2023\/athensredhotel.jpg\" width=\"675\" height=\"395\" alt=\"Simply decorated guest room with a red dot on the wall at Athensdot hotel in Athens, Greece\"\/><\/noscript><br \/>\nThis newer property is in Psyrri (sometimes spelled Psiri), a neighborhood that\u2019s close to the main sights yet much more frequented by locals. This is one of the best area in the city (it\u2019s actually my favorite). Athensdot has a cool, pop-art design throughout, with large scale drawings on the walls and bright bursts of red everywhere. Rooms vary from internal rooms with no window to rooms with a balcony, and while they\u2019re priced accordingly, you can always ask at check-in to see if there\u2019s availability to bump you up to a nicer room. In all rooms you\u2019ll find free Wi-Fi, large flat-screen TVs, mini fridges, desks in the room, and friendly staff. The area has a highly energetic student vibe has a plethora of political street art adorning the buildings. This hotel is an affordable mid-range spot with a lot of different room configurations to choose from. There is exceptionally helpful staff and unique homey d\u00e9cor and furniture in each room that include all the normal hotel amenities. The hotel is actually run by the mattress company Coco-Mat. All rooms are equipped with high-quality mattresses, and you can even choose your pillow from a menu with 12 different pillow types. All the rooms have TVs, free and fast Wi-Fi, Nespresso machines, desks, loads of natural light, and upscale bath products. The hotel is just a six-minute walk away from the Acropolis and boasts stellar views of it from both in-room balconies and the rooftop terrace bar\/restaurant. There\u2019s also a complimentary (and huge) buffet breakfast featuring local specialties. The rooms are on the smaller side and are simply decorated but they have comfortable beds, flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, and safes.
